What is Burning Man?
Burning Man is an annual event in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert where people gather for nine days to celebrate artistic self-expression and the construction of a temporary self-sufficient community. It’s often regarded as a bizarre counterculture party in the desert.
The festival is recognized for creative and self-expression exhibitions, such as sculptures and other art installations, as well as odd, art-inspired automobiles and structures. The avoidance of any exchange of cash is a key component of Burning Man culture, with guests instead engaged in trading, borrowing, and bartering. Burning Man is typically linked with its more hedonistic components, such as drug use, nudity, and sex, in public perception.
The term Burning Man comes from the gigantic, human-shaped sculpture (named the man) that is torched as part of the event’s conclusion. Every year, the sculpture is replaced.
Black Rock City is the city-like encampment that is established during each event.

Burning Man 2023 will take place from August 27 to September 4.
